  1. Breaking up is hard to do, especially when you've put all that tender loving care into the relationship and given yourself over to all the kneading and squeezing it needs.
I hope you find a replacement love for it but if you don't you can always give it the cold shoulder in the freezer for a few months.

  2. Ha ha. I've never done the Amish bread, I can't handle that much responsibility. It's bad enough trying to keep my plant (yes, singular, well actually there are 3 plants in one pot) alive! To have to commit to doing something to the bread every single day? Ugh. But someone could give me one, already baked... I'd take that! In about 6 weeks when I can eat carbs again :P

  3. Cute post. I'm starting up with South Beach again after vacation. It's the best diet however that bread starter sounds awesome. Vacation means this great bakery with world known bread so carbs will be eaten!!

  4. Hee Hee! I've let my Amish bread starter, and my plants, and many other things die prematurely. I don't have the stick-to-it-iveness for that kind of relationship.

  5. You crack me up Kim! I've done the starter thing countless times. But I'll admit I'm not a faithful to the relationship, and it usually sits on the counter and gets waaaay gassy because I forget all about it...but I've tasted the bread (that others have baked) and it's fabulous. My YellowBoy will eat a whole loaf it I let him. I wish you well South Beaching it...I've found that the only thing that works for me is eat when you're hungry, stop when you're full. *IF* I actually do that, it's a 10-15 pound difference in just a few months. It all comes down to those last two or three bites on the plate that it's ingrained in me by my own mother to always finish...bleh!

  6. I'm never followed through with what I like to refer to as "chain letter" bread. The last time I got a bag full of the "batter", it was from a student (funny to think her name was Charity) who said, "My mom wants me to give this stuff to you. She never bakes it, so you don't have to either." What was that all about??

    Makes me laugh still!

Brad wants to go back on a low-carb, low-gluten thing. He says it works. I don't know, I'm all about the bread (just not the kind that comes in a baggie!)

  8. I love the Amish Bread stuff. I had one last summer I think. I did it for like 2 or 3 months. the bread was amazing! I usually tossed out the other starters though. Funny that I was just thinking about that bread last week. Too bad you aren't close...I would totally take it off your hands. Although that is not going to help me lose the baby weight.

  9. funny.....because it hits home with me too. I had to do the breakup with a number of relationships this year. Peanut butter passion ice cream, chips, french fries, and a few others too. But my new friend called waist and the other called muscles have more than made up for the loss. I have lost 35 lbs since february and feeling great. Yea for you and good luck
